AUBRUNDALE, Fla. (WFLA) - A Louisiana man is behind bars in Polk County charged with four counts of attempted murder after police say, he was upset about an SUV merging into his lane.

Investigators say the victim was driving a blue Dodge Durango and was traveling west on U.S. 92 near Havendale Boulevard on Saturday.

He had one adult passenger and two 9-year-old children in the back seat when he tried to merge into traffic. That could've been a fatal mistake.

Investigators say a group of motorcyclists were in the outside lane of U.S. 92, and 25-year old Aaron Chad Delaune was following in a 2015 Dodge Charger.

According to the arrest affidavit, he felt the victim merged to closely to the motorcycles and as a result, fired two shots at the SUV. One of the bullets entered the passenger side of the Durango and exited the driver's side, the other round entered the rear compartment of the SUV. Detectives say, amazingly, no one inside the Durango was struck.

A witness saw what happened and followed Delaune while on the phone with a 911 operator.

When Polk County Sheriff's Deputies pulled Delaune over, they found a Bersa .380 pistol which was loaded with a round in the chamber in the center console, and a loaded shotgun in the front seat in plain view. Investigators say Delaune also had an additional loaded magazine for the Bersa .380 in his front pocket.

Investigators say Delaune also had a business card stating that he is a probationary or rookie member of the KinFolk Motorcycle Club.

They say the club is a nationally recognized 1% percent club crime gang. They add incidents like this elevate the status of members within the organization.

Delaune lists his address as 230 Lake Village Boulevard in Slidell, Louisiana. He's being held in jail without bond.
