Police have charged seven people and seized cash, drugs and a knife following the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang’s week-long national run.

During the run, which involved hundreds of Rebels members riding motorcycles through Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, a heavy police presence remained throughout every leg of the journey monitoring participants.

The operation ran from Sunday September 30 through to Sunday October 7 and involved officers from all states and territories working together with other Commonwealth agencies to deter, detect and disrupt any illicit activity by OMCG members and associates.

Seven people were issued court attendance notices for offences including assaulting police, possess prohibited drug, possess drug equipment, drive while suspended and custody of a knife in a public space.

Officers issued 104 traffic infringements and 61 defect notices to and searched an additional 33 people seizing cash, a knife and prohibited drugs.

“We make no apology for conducting these operations,” Detective Superintendent Deborah Wallace said.

“If you are an OMCG member and commit any illegal activities in NSW, you should expect to deal with our Strike Force Raptor officers.”

Strike Force Raptor was established in 2009 and conducts proactive investigations and intelligence based, high-impact policing operations to prevent and disrupt conflicts and dismantle any network engaged in organised criminal activity.

“We know outlaw motorcycle gangs are not confined to one particular state or criminal activity and by working together with our interstate colleagues, it allows us a united front to further disrupt their criminal activities,” Superintendent Wallace said.

She also noted that this year’s national run had significantly lower numbers than previous years, with many being turned back at the Queensland New South Wales border.
