Bikers Are Generous People, Don't Stereotype them

Monday, April 24, 2006

We have been watching, with great interest, the developments of the canceled BIKE WEEK activities in Hollister. The political machine may decide what it wants to have in its community and that should be honored. However, with the help of the local politics, the general public may be painting the motorcycle community with a single brush stroke stereotype of "one size fits all". If that is the case, then there is a serious injustice occurring against the very people who could benefit the most within the activities of such a large gathering of riders.

The business community suffers immediately from loss of revenue, which includes places to stay, to eat, to purchase basic essentials, such as food and beverage, gasoline and oil, sundry impulse purchases from local merchants, and an opportunity to open your area up to greater tourist dollars.

It should also be known that the "larger motorcycle community" is the MOST generous and free spirited group of people in North America, if not the world. It is not uncommon for those who understand the freedom of riding together, to enjoy the brotherhood and sisterhood that riding brings to riders, and riding enthusiasts to the Bike Week locations in such places as; Daytona (FL), Sturgis (SD), Laconia (NH), Myrtle Beach (SC), Americade (Lake George NY), River Run (Laughlin NV), Blues Fest (AR), and Tempe (AZ) to name a few of the events.

If there is a need to have a BIKE WEEK in California, then we offer to help those riders who want it to happen. We are interested in making something happen this summer for our riders.
