The president of the Gold Coast chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang has been fined over an ugly pub brawl.

Greg Pearce, 45, pleaded guilty to affray at Brisbane Magistrates Court and was fined almost $3000 dollars over an ugly daylight fight at a Palm Beach pub that left a man unconscious.

CCTV released by police showed the January 19 brawl including footage of Pearce repeatedly kicking and punching the 42-year-old victim before walking away.

Police said the pair knew each other

But Pearce also copped a $700 fine for wearing a controversial number on his jumper when he attended court.

On the back of the garment were the words "Angel" and "Brotherhood" with the number 8173 – a number associated with Hells Angels.

Pearce had the jumper custom made and checked by a lawyer to ensure it did not breach Queensland’s laws against wearing bikie attire.

The magistrate described the jumper as an inoffensive item, not usually associated with the notorious motorcycle club and said it was not intimidating.

But Pearce was still fined $700 for wearing it.

While Pearce walked free today, he is facing possible prison time for breaching a suspended sentence and being caught with cocaine.
